CBC News Wins 5 First-Place Headline Awards


CBS News and CBS News Radio combined for five first place honors in the 84th National Headliner Awards presented by the Press Club of Atlantic City. CBS News also earned two second place and two third place honors.

CBS THIS MORNING, the network’s morning program co-hosted by Norah O’Donnell, Gayle King and John Dickerson, was awarded first place in the Broadcast Television Networks, Cable Networks and Syndicated Newscast Category. CBS THIS MORNING’s reporting on sexual assault at the Air Force Academy also earned a second place honor in the Broadcast Network, Cable Networks and Syndicators Investigative Report category. CBS THIS MORNING and CBSN: ON ASSIGNMENT also earned a third place award in the Broadcast Television Networks, Cable Networks and Syndicators Investigative Report category for “Made in America.”

48 HOURS and CBS News earned second place honors for “Son of Sam: The Killer Speaks” in the Broadcast Television Networks, Cable Networks and Syndicators Documentary or Series of Reports on the Same Subject category and a third place award in the Broadcast Television Networks, Cable Networks and Syndicators News Magazine Program for “Death by Text.”

CBS News Radio earned first place honors in the Broadcast Radio Networks and Syndicators Newscast; Broadcast Radio Networks and Syndicators Breaking News or Continuing Coverage; Broadcast Radio Networks and Syndicators Feature and Human Interest Story; and Broadcast Radio Networks and Syndicators News Series categories.

The National Headliner Awards program is one of the oldest and largest annual contests recognizing outstanding journalism in newspapers, photography, radio, television and online. The awards were founded in 1934 by the Press Club of Atlantic City. Click HERE for a full list of winners.
