David Letterman Guests On SiriusXM's Outlaw Country

SiriusXM announced Monday that David Letterman will join Outlaw Country channel host Elizabeth Cook in studio for an extensive conversation about his passion for American roots music and some of his favorite musical moments on the Late Show with David Letterman, including a playlist of his own hand-picked performances that aired on his long running network television show over the years.

A self-professed fan of the channel, and particularly Cook's daily Apron Strings show, Letterman "invited himself" to co-host the special episode from the SiriusXM studios in New York, and brought along his long time musical director Paul Shaffer to share some of his favorite musical moments from the "Late Show" and discuss his new album, Paul Shaffer & The World's Most Dangerous Band.

"I love Elizabeth Cook. She's the best thing on Outlaw Country. Full disclosure, we briefly married in the 50's. Listening to her show Apron Strings makes me want to steal a car and drive to Barstow. She's just that good," said David Letterman.

"What an incredible experience to welcome David Letterman and Paul Shaffer to Apron Strings! I honestly didn't think I could love this man any more. When he invited me on his show the first time, it was a life changing moment. Getting to know him and his deep passion for music has made him all the more beloved. I'm over the moon to have the opportunity to sit with Dave and Paul and share their stories and memories of some very special Late Show performances with our audience. The emotion is palpable and the conversation is one I'll never forget," said Elizabeth Cook.

"We appreciate David Letterman's passion for American roots music, and we love that he's a dedicated listener to Elizabeth Cook on our Outlaw Country channel. It's a special moment to have Dave and Paul in our studios sharing some of their favorite Late Show musical performances and stories with Elizabeth and her audience," said Scott Greenstein, President and Chief Content Officer of SiriusXM.

Elizabeth Cook's Apron Strings with special co-host David Letterman, will premiere on Wednesday, May 24 at 9:00 am ET on SiriusXM's Outlaw Country, via satellite on channel 60 and through the SiriusXM app on smartphones and other connected devices, as well as online at siriusxm.com. The special will rebroadcast throughout the week and weekend.

Created and executive produced by Steven Van Zandt, Outlaw Country plays country rebels like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris, Lucinda Williams, Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell, Blackberry Smoke and also features shows hosted by Steve Earle, Buddy Miller & Jim Lauderdale, Mojo Nixon, Shooter Jennings, Johnny Knoxville & Roger Alan Wade, Hillbilly Jim, Paula Nelson and Dallas Wayne.
