Jackson Hole Radio: Rich Broadcasting Files For Chapter 11

Rich P Broadcasting Idaho LLC has filed a voluntary Chapter 11 petition Sept. 28 in Utah Bankruptcy Court.

Headquartered in Salt Lake City, Mecham has stations in three markets, including Jackson Hole’s Classic Rock KZJH 95.3 FM, Alternative KMTN 96.9 FM The Mountain, Country KJAX 93.5 FM (Aspen) Country and Newsradio KID 590 AM.

But Mecham said listeners will still be able to turn on their radios each day and not hear a single difference in what his stations offer, reports the Jackson Hole News.

“I have no intention of getting out of the Jackson Hole market,” he said Tuesday. “There are just several issues on the table that needed to be addressed. The simplest way to do it was to file for reorganization.”

Mecham has been in the broadcast business since 1981. He’s been in Idaho Falls since 2011 and bought his stations in Jackson and Sun Valley on April 1, 2013.

“I’m not going anywhere,” he said. “My stations are not going anywhere, and hopefully my employees are not going anywhere.”

While Mecham declined to go into the details of the company’s “issues on the table,” online records show that creditors include ABC Radio Networks Assets, American Town, Ando Media, ASCAP and Atlas Talent Agency-Naughton.
