NYC Radio: Kaepernick, Hot 97's Nessa Donate Backpacks

Colin Kaepernick and his girlfriend, WQHT 97.1 FM Hot 97 radio personality Nessa have donated $60,000 worth of backpacks to students in Harlem and the South Bronx, according to TheRoot.

“Having a new backpack to start off the new school year helps give each student a fresh start,” says Nessa. “When we looked at everything when it comes to supplies, we found backpacks were an investment for most parents. As for the student, we wanted to ensure we found one that could last for more than a year and that was sturdy, durable and versatile for students to use for books, sports equipments or art materials, and traveling.”

Students at Harlem RBI’s DREAM Charter School Middle School and Patterson Family Day in South Bronx were the lucky recipients of the Nike backpacks.

While at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards, Nessa of MTV's Girl Code and Hot 97 talked to Baller Alert about her boyfriend Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers and his decision to sit during the National Anthem.
