San Diego Radio: Old KSDO Towers Dropped

Six radio antenna towers once used to transmit KSDO 1130 AM in San Diego came down last week to make way for housing expected to go up within the next year.

A total of six 160-foot towers were erected decades ago on the property off Braverman Drive in Santee, CA, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Several months ago, the property was sold to KB Home Construction and they expect to open "River Village". It will be the location for one- and two-story houses, each with 2,210 to 2,554 square feet of living area, on lots ranging from 6,000 to 9,000 square feet starting at the high-$500Ks

For years KSDO was the radio home of talk show hosts Roger Hedgecock, Ernie Myers, Michael Reagan and Stacey Taylor.

In 1986, KSDO news anchor Myers was the San Diego region’s top-rated AM morning radio show, beating out longtime rivals Hudson and Bauer on KFMB-AM.

KSDO now broadcasts as a Spanish-language Christian radio station that is based in Chula Vista.
