Orlando Radio: WNUE-FM Adds NBA Magic

The Orlando Magic have announced Entravision Communications Corporation’s Salsa WNUE 98.1 FM as the team’s new flagship home for Spanish radio broadcasts.

The station will broadcast Magic preseason home games and all regular season games (home and away).

Orlando Magic’s Spanish Radio Play-by-Play announcer Joey Colon will continue to serve as the official voice of the Orlando Magic in Spanish, handling game play-by-play, pregame, halftime and postgame analysis. This year will mark Colon’s 18th season as the team’s Spanish play-by-play announcer.

“The Orlando Magic are thrilled to welcome Entravision’s Salsa 98.1 to our broadcasting family,” said Orlando Magic CEO Alex Martins. “The Magic fan base continues to grow in its diversity and broadcasting our games on the FM dial will help us broaden our reach to Central Florida’s vibrant Hispanic community. We look forward to continue bringing Magic basketball to all fans in Central Florida.”

“This is a very exciting time for Entravision as we bring Orlando Magic basketball to our listeners, and bring Hispanic Orlando Magic fans to 98.1,” said Lillyann Gonzalez, Senior Vice President, Salsa 98.1. “U.S. Latinos are a strong and growing segment of the consumer market and made up almost half the population growth in Florida from 2013 to 2014. As the Spanish-language home of the Orlando Magic we will enrich our connection to our audience.”

“Bringing the Orlando Magic’s 2015 season to Salsa 98.1 is a great move for our station. This will connect our advertisers with the team’s growing Hispanic fan base in Central Florida for the first time,” said Jeffrey Liberman, Chief Operating Officer of Entravision. “Entravision is a leader in providing multiplatform content to Latino audiences both locally and nationally, and we are always working to enhance our media platforms through strategic partnerships, fresh talent and content that resonates with the dynamic U.S. Latino consumer.”
