NYC Radio: ESB FM Antenna Mast Set For Observance


WCBS 101.1 FM will help the Audio Engineering Society celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Master FM Antenna which sits atop the iconic Empire State Building in NYC.

The observance will a special vignette will airing voiced with WCBS-FM morning hot Scott Shannon prior to the 7pm start.  The vignette will intodruce a masterful light show, designed by renowned lighting designer Marc Brickman, on the top of the Empire State Building to the tune of “FM (No Static At All)” by Steely Dan.

The Master FM Antenna Group at Empire is a consortium of broadcasters. The group includes iHeartMedia, CBS Radio, New York Public Radio, Emmis Communications and several other broadcast groups. Empire owns the master FM antenna and leases space to broadcasters.

The Empire State Building is home to the following stations (as of 2012):

WCBS-2, WNBC-4, WNYW-5, WABC-7, WWOR-9 Secaucus, WPIX-11, WNET-13 Newark, WNYE-25, WPXN-31, WXTV-41 Paterson, WNJU-47 Linden and WFUT-68 Newark
