L-A Radio: City Council Honors KLOS

L-R: Marq Torien of the BulletBoys, Herb Wesson (City Council Prez), Morning Hosts Heidi & Frank.
Cumulus Media announces that the Los Angeles City Council has honored The Rock of Southern California, 95.5 KLOS for over 45 years of providing Angelenos with outstanding community service and the best classic rock music, by declaring August 8 – or eight-eight – to be “95.5 KLOS ‘80’s Rock Day” in the City of Los Angeles. Herb Wesson, President of the Los Angeles City Council, presented the official proclamation on “The Heidi and Frank Show” on 95.5 KLOS Wednesday morning.

To celebrate this honor, KLOS ‘80s Rock Week (which started Monday and has featured some big ‘80’s rock every hour, Cathouse Live passes, and other surprises) will now extend through the weekend, with a “Pour Some ‘80’s On Me” Weekend, starting Friday at 5pm and featuring wall-to-wall ‘80’s rock and tickets to ‘80’s rock band concerts up for grabs almost every hour.

Herb Wesson, Los Angeles City Council President said: "It is an honor to declare August 8 ‘95.5 KLOS '80's Rock Day’ in Los Angeles. A warm congratulations to KLOS for withstanding the test of time and remaining the preferred rock and roll station for millions of rock music fans.”

Keith Cunningham, Program Director for KLOS said: “This is quite the honor and a grand tip of the hat to a fun decade of music and the hundreds of talented men and women who have worked at KLOS over the past 45 years. After KLOS rocked Los Angeles in the ‘70’s and furthered the British Invasion, then came Motley Crue, Guns ‘N Roses and a whole new movement of rock that made the Sunset Strip so famous, and KLOS was right there in the middle of the madness, throwing backstage parties and helping to break bands. We accept this honor on behalf of our listeners, current and former employees, and the ‘80’s rock bands that have always called KLOS home. Now, if you’ll excuse, I need to go find some leather pants because we just extended ‘80’s Rock Week through the weekend.”
