FNC Renews With Anchor Brett Baier

Brett Baier
Bret Baier has signed a new multiyear deal with Fox News Channel that will have him continue as the anchor of “Special Report“ as well as the network’s chief political anchor.

“As one of the most trusted anchors in the industry, Bret’s work ethic and style have played an integral role in the leadership of our Washington bureau and the success of the network,” said Roger Ailes, chairman and chief executive of Fox News, in a prepared statement. “We are proud that his strong journalistic instincts and political expertise will be a part of Fox News throughout our 2016 election coverage and for many years to come.”

Variety reports exact terms of the contract were not specified.

Baier has served as the anchor of “Special Report” since 2009. The program, which airs from 6-7 p.m. weekdays, averages nearly 2 million viewers, according to data from Nielsen Media Research.

As part of his role as chief political anchor, Baier will co-anchor all 2016 election coverage and will co-moderate the first Republican presidential primary debate in Cleveland, presented by Fox News on August 6, along with all subsequent primary debates.
