Cumulus Names Mike McVay SVP/Content & Programming

Cumulus announces that senior programming executive Mike McVay has been named Senior Vice President, Content & Programming for Cumulus. Concurrently, Cumulus has extended its long-term contract with McVay.

McVay has served Cumulus as Senior Vice President, Corporate/Programming, since September 2011. He continues to report to John Dickey, Executive Vice President, Content & Programming for Cumulus.

McVay is a 40-year programming professional with consulting, management, ownership, sales, programming and on-air experience, and has developed and launched several nationally syndicated programs. He has programmed more than 800 stations around the world, including stations across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Grand Cayman and Puerto Rico. In 1984, McVay and his wife Doris McVay launched McVay Media, a programming consultancy recognized around the world as the leader in its field. He has also owned or managed radio stations in Honolulu, Cleveland, Naples, Key West and Flint, Michigan. McVay was also one of the founding partners of Listener Driven Radio.

McVay has been honored with The Rockwell Award, and has been named among America’s Top Programmers by Radio Ink and one of the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Titans of Talk by NTS magazine. He was also recognized as Broadcast Executive of the Year for three consecutive years (2006, 2007, and 2008) by the former Radio & Records Magazine. He is a member of the Cleveland Radio Hall of Fame. He currently serves the industry as a member of the Country Radio Broadcasters Board of Directors.
