Omaha Radio: Husker Sports Leaving iHM Stations

Nebraska football -- and all other Husker college sports -- will no longer be broadcast on N/T KFAB 110 AM (50 Kw DA-N) and other iHeartMedia Radio Stations after June 30 of this year.

The University of Nebraska's media partner, IMG, has signed a new deal moving the broadcasts to the Journal Broadcast Group.

Generations of Nebraska fans have grown up listening to the football games on KFAB. Under the new five year agreement the football games will be broadcast on Sports KXSP 590 AM /ESPN (5 Kw) and Rock KEZO 92.3 FM and Classic Rock KKCD 105.9 FM.

Under the new agreement all of the men's basketball and women's basketball games will be broadcast on a combination of stations. All volleyball games and Husker baseball games will broadcast as will all three hours of Husker Sports Nightly -- a talk show.

Dave Witty, Senior Associate Athletic Director for Marketing and Communications, is quoted in the release saying, “In preparing for a new radio rights contract, the University’s primary goal has been to maximize the number of athletics events available to our fans, ensuring the broadest broadcast signal coverage, and achieving greater exposure for all Husker sports.”

The  Huskers’ new Omaha radio lineup:
  • Football:  All games on KXSP-AM and KEZO-FM
  • Men’s basketball:  All games on KXSP-AM
  • Women’s basketball:  All games on KXSP-AM; in case of a conflict with another Husker event, broadcast moves to KKCD-FM
