S/WB Radio: Once Dominant WARM-AM Back On-Air

WARM 590 AM has returned to the air serving the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA market.  However, the station is not-as-mighty as it once was.

The station, previously operating at 5Kw Day and Night, has been the victim of transmitter neglect which led to sporadic outages. Outages as in not-on-the-air.

The most recent happened in  september and it took three-month of tehcnical rehab at Cumulus Media.

WARM returned to the air Noon today operarting with a STA of 1250 watts.  The special authority will be in effect until the FCC approved a Cumulus request to operated the station with 1.8Kw days and 430 watts at night.

WARM-AM has re-launched as the all-new SportsRadio 5-90, a CBS Sports Radio affiliate.

  1. This once great radio station has been getting a thrashing since the 80's. The radio industry's powers-that-be can't seem to nail what the radio-listening public wants, at least with this station. We'll see how long the sports format lasts.
