NYC Radio: WCBS-FM Closing In On WLTW

Call it the Scott Shannon Factor..CBS Radio's WCBS 101.1 FM registered a 5.6 6+ share in February before the station shuffled its line-up to make room for Shannon In The Morning. The Classic Hits station moved Dan Taylor to mid-days and brought in Shannon during March. During the transition, station shares moved upward 5.6—6.1—6.6, with Cume moving 3,283,800—3,536,000—3,728,200. (WPLJ without Shannon moved 2.4—2.1 and is now #17 6+.

InsideRadio is reporting that since joining classic hits WCBS-FM in late February, the CBS Radio station’s 6+ share in morning drive has grown by half a share in listeners 6+, improving from a 5.3 in February to a 5.8 in April.  That’s the station’s highest morning ratings in four years.  “Scott Shannon In The Morning” now ranks third in the market, behind the news team on sister WCBS (6.8) and “Elvis Duran & the Morning Show” on Clear Channel CHR “Z100” WHTZ (7.1).

Also worthy of note: In the adjacent Middlesex-Somset-Union County, NJ Metro, WCBS-FM zooms 3.8—4.9—6.5.

WCBS is closing the gap on CCM+E's WLTW 106.7 FM Lite. WLTW is still number one in the latest Nielsen PPMs, dropping 7.0—6.8. WCBS-FM is #2.

CCM+E Top 40/M WHTZ 100.3 FM Z100 remains at #3 5.5--5.6 with Emmis UrbanAC WBLS 107.5 FM at #4 5.4--5.5, with SBS Tropical WSKQ 97.9 FM MEGA down 5.1--4.7, but remaining at #5.
