R.I.P.: Boise Radio Host Jon Duane Dies

Jon Duane
Long-time KIDO 580 AM radio host Jon Duane died over the weekend after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Jon had one of the Boise's most recognized voices and names.  He was 68.

Jon Duane (real name: John Hellhake) along with Chris Kelly were the long time hosts of AM Idaho on both 630 KIDO and when the station made the switch to 580 on the dial.

According to the KIDO website, Jon will forever be remembered as the man with a big heart and his love for Idaho and Boise. He and his dog Roo were a regular fixture at the studios where he interacted with National, regional and local politicians. Jon’s folksy way of interviewing and getting to know guests was one of the things that took him to the top of the radio ratings in the 1990’s. The Treasure Valley will long remember Jon’s deep booming voice and gentle heart.

Duane left KIDO in 2007.
