Olympics Strike Ratings Gold Sunday Night

Sunday evening was the type of TV ratings event that industry executives might point to to justify big investments in live programming and expensive scripted content.

The Winter Olympics on NBC drew 26.3 million viewers while a tribute to the Beatles brought just under 14 million viewers to CBS, New York Times reports.

Downton Abbey on PBS held near steady with 6.7 million viewers. Variety and Ad Week, meanwhile, examine the continued success of “The Walking Dead,” which drew a whopping 15.8 million viewers during its fourth season premiere Sunday.
