R.I.P.: Longtime KFGO Personality Larry Ristvedt Passes

Larry Ristvedt
Longtime KFGO personality Larry Ristvedt died Tuesday. Ristvedt had been suffering from A-L-S.

He was 71, according to KFGO 790 AM in Fargo, ND.

Ristvedt spent nearly 35 years as KFGO's Farm and Ranch Director. Along with Tom Wynn, Ristvedt made up half of KFGO's "Tom and Larry Show", one of the longest running radio teams in Fargo-Moorhead history. Ristvedt announced his retirement in 2010.

Ristvedt was a commodities broker when he joined KFGO in 1976.

Ristvedt was one-half of KFGO’s popular “Tom and Larry Show,” with partner Tom Wynn, until he retired in 2010. But he also was known for his many entrepreneurial ventures outside the station, such as Uncle Larry’s Lemonade and Beef Shtix sold at F-M RedHawks games.

KFGO Operations Manager Joel Heitkamp told In Forum,  the longstanding “Tom and Larry Show” was like “waking up with a friend.”

“That’s why people called him ‘Uncle Larry,’” Heitkamp said. “A lot of people saw him as a member of their family.”

Heitkamp said people like Ristvedt, who worked at the station for 34 years, helped build the station’s foundation.
