NYC Radio: WQHT’s Summer Jam Was Hot & Wet

A year’s worth of planning came to fruition last night at the WQHT Hot97’s twenty-year anniversary of Summer Jam.

The weather didn’t stop 50,000 hip-hop fans from turning out for performances from Wu-Tant-Clan, Chris Brown, French Montana, Wale, Miguel, Fabolous, 2 Chainz, A$AP Rocky and Kendrick Lamar.

In true Summer Jam tradition, the run of show was sprinkled with surprise performances from Mariah Carey, J. Cole, Lil Kim, Bone Thugs & Harmony, Schoolboy Q and Sean Kingston.

Due to torrential weather, we were forced to end the show abruptly but not before French Montana brought out both Rick Ross and Lil Wayne to perform the 2012 summer anthem “Pop That”.  Rain was pounding Met Life Stadium but concertgoers were unbothered and somewhat relieved as the day had been blistering HOT.  Fans chanted lyrics and waved their hands in the air to close out the momentous show.
