Fort Myers Radio: Beasley Puts Sports on Bigger FM Stick

There are some big changes coming to Southwest Florida sports radio starting Thursday.

According to the News-Press, ESPNRadio, which has been broadcast over WWCN 770 AM and four FM dials, will be merged onto one FM station — WJBX 99.3 ESPN. The move gives ESPNRadio a 46,000-watt FM signal which can be heard from southern Collier County, throuhout Lee County and into Charlotte and Hendry counites for Naples-based Beasley Broadcast Group Inc.

 ESPNRadio will remain on 770 AM for the next two months before changing its format to broadcast the Spanish language station ESPN Deportes.

With ESPN’s move to 99.3, rock station 99X will merge with 96 K-Rock on 96.1 FM. Bubba the Love Sponge and the Stan and Haney show will remain on the rock station mornings and afternoons, respectively.

The four FM translator station airing ESPN radio: 98.1 in Lee County, 96.5 in North Fort Myers/Cape Coral, 101.5 in Bonita Springs/North Naples and 105.1 in Naples/Marco Island — will play light rock.
